1. Introduction
GPT Sidebar ("we," "us," or "our"), operated by Ozan Soft, provides a browser extension that integrates various AI models (GPT-5, Claude, DeepSeek, Gemini, etc.) into your browsing experience. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data, specifically addressing the requirements of the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy.
2. What Data Do We Collect and How?
We only collect data that is strictly necessary to provide the Extension's functionality.
Authentication Data: When you sign in via Google OAuth or email, we collect your email address, name, and profile image. This is used to manage your subscription and account limits.
User-Generated Content (Prompts): We collect the text, images (base64), or selected page content that you explicitly submit to the AI via the chat sidebar, translation tools, or "explain" features.
Technical Preferences: We store your Extension settings (sidebar position, theme, font size, active shortcuts) locally on your device.
Cookies: We only access cookies related to AI providers (e.g., chatgpt.com, openai.com) to facilitate "browser relay" integrations that you explicitly initiate.
We do NOT collect: Your full browsing history, keystrokes outside the extension, or any telemetry/analytics data from the extension itself.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used solely for the following purposes:
Service Delivery: To process your prompts and return AI-generated responses.
Account Management: To verify your identity and manage your GPT Sidebar credits/subscription via https://app2.gptsidebar.com.
Functional Integration: To enable features like the side panel, context menu, and floating buttons on permitted websites.
4. Data Storage and Security
Local Storage (chrome.storage.local): Your authentication tokens, user profile cache, and UI preferences are stored only on your local device. Uninstalling the extension removes this data.
Server-Side Processing: When you send a prompt, it is transmitted securely via HTTPS to our backend (https://app2.gptsidebar.com).
Security Measures: We implement industry-standard encryption (SSL/TLS) for all data in transit. We do not store your prompts permanently on our servers unless required for the specific functionality of your conversation history.
5. Data Sharing with Third-Party AI Providers
To generate responses, GPT Sidebar relays your submitted content (prompts/images) to third-party AI providers. By using the extension, you acknowledge that your input is processed by:
OpenAI (GPT models)
Anthropic (Claude models)
Google (Gemini models)
DeepSeek
OpenRouter (as an aggregation service)
Important: These third parties receive only the data necessary to generate a response. They do not receive your personal identity (name/email) unless you provide it within the prompt itself.
6. No Sale of Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data, prompts, or usage habits to any third-party advertisers or data brokers. Your data is never used for advertising profiling.
7. Disclosure of Chrome Permissions
In compliance with Google's "Limited Use" policy, we disclose our use of the following permissions:
sidePanel: To display the AI assistant in the browser's built-in side panel so it is accessible on any webpage without interrupting your browsing.
host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required to allow the AI assistant to function on any website where you choose to use it (e.g., summarizing an article or drafting an email).
8. Your Rights (GDPR & International)
Regardless of your location, you have the right to:
Access the data we hold about you.
Request deletion of your account and associated data.
Opt-out of any non-essential data processing.

9. Content Rights and Ownership
Joint Ownership: Content generated via GPT Sidebar is a result of your input and AI technology.
User Rights: You have full rights to use generated content for commercial or non-commercial purposes.
